(Antwerp active 1709–1747) The Massacre of the Innocents, oil on canvas, 62 x 80 cm, framed Provenance: Private collection, Belgium We are grateful to Jan de Maere for confirming the attribution of the present painting to the Antwerp artist Hendrick Cantelbeek, whose works are rare, on the basis of a digital photograph (written communication). The artist is also mentioned in the archives of the City of Antwerp in 1747 as a restorer of pictures.
