Differential taxation is not possible. The two vintage gelatin silver prints were taken by the Spanish photographer Francisco ‘Paco’ Cano. The central motif of each is the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway, who has inscribed each image with a personal dedication. One of the photographs shows Ernest Hemingway in conversation with a friend and the personal dedication reads: ‘To my old friend- Seventy years young is more hopeful than to be forty years old. Best always, Ernesto Hemingway.’. The second photograph shows Hemingway at a bull fight in Valencia in 1959. The two photographs are in good condition. They are each dedicated by Hemingway in the print and signed by the photographer. There are further photographer studio stamps on the reverse as well as some inscription. Francisco ‘Paco’ Cano (b. 1912) Francisco Cano was born in Alicante, Spain in 1912 as the son of a bullfighter. During the war, Cano lived in Madrid, entering the world of photography as a laboratory assistant at a cosmetics factory as well as also working as a bullfighter. Being a photographer and a bullfighter he had the advantage of knowing two techniques: how to capture the right moment, and how to use the camera. Cano decided to leave bullfighting and dedicate himself entirely to photography. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
