T. C. Cannon Sold at Auction Prices

Painter, b. 1946 - d. 1978

Artist T.C. Cannon was a Native American mid-20th-century painter who was responsible for bringing about a sea of change in Native American art. His use of vibrant colors and political references, coupled with a mythical and Surrealist style, expressed a new sense of American identity that hadn't been represented in the art world up to that point.

T.C. Cannon's prints were exhibited in the Smithsonian Institute in 1972, which propelled his success, and he enjoyed a productive period until his death in 1978. Artist T.C. Cannon sadly lived a short life, dying at the age of 31 in an automobile accident, making his legacy all the more poignant. T.C. Cannon's art for sale includes pieces such as his woodblock painting, His Hair Flows like a River. If you'd like to add similarly striking pieces to your collection and discover a new genre, browse beautiful mythical and allegorical paintings for sale online at Invaluable.
