      Est: £400 - £600

Ronald Cameron (British 1930-2013), Guida , a bronze figure of a nude runner, mid brown patination, signed, titled and limited edition 24/25 in this cast, 56cm high Ronald Cameron (1930-2013) was a pre-eminent sculptor of the human body who worked with the classical subject in a modern manner. Cameron studied at Camberwell School of Art under Dr. Karel Vogel between 1947 and 1953 and gained the National Design Diploma for sculpture. His passion for the arts started from a young age, at his grammar school in Horsham, Sussex. However, it was on a visit to the National Gallery in his early teens that Cameron found his greatest inspiration, the Rokeby Venus by Diego Velázquez. Cameron mastered in sculpture the classical nude portraying the human form in both life-size and maquette. He admired the traditional work of Bernini and in particular The Three Graces by Canova at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Ronald Cameron had a long and successful career in sculpture, receiving commissions in almost every medium he also worked in the commercial sector designing puppets for films such as Thunderbirds, and he was commissioned to design the medals for the 1986 Commonwealth Games. Cameron is widely collectable and had a number of significant exhibitions in his time. He exhibited his work Infinity at the Royal Academy s Summer Exhibition in 2006 and exhibited his work alongside works of Henry Moore, Elisabeth Frink, Barbara Hepworth and Michael Ayrton at the Alwin Gallery, London.
