      1844 - Glasgow 1898 Tenerezza in campagna Firmato E Sherwood Calvert in basso a destra Olio su tela, cm 110X160 Edwin Sherwood Calvert ha lavorato a Glasgow e nel nord della Francia, dove ha creato paesaggi nello stile di Corot all'inizio della sua carriera. Ispirato alla pittura di Jean Franciois Millet e ai realisti francesi, questo grande e imponente dipinto raffigura una giovane ragazza in un atteggiamento materno mentre sullo sfondo un bucolico paesaggio riempie la tela. La calibrata struttura compositiva della scena è dominata dalle due figure che sembrano, scandire lo spazio.
