Robert (1943) Butler Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1943 - d. 2014

African American artist Robert Butler was born in Baxley, Georgia in 1943. In 1947, he moved with his mother to Okeechobee, Florida. His mother worked three jobs, but they were still quite poor, so most of his time was spent exploring his environment. During this time painter Robert Butler became inspired by the Everglades and Lake Okeechobee, where he'd hunt and fish throughout his childhood.

Though he was considered one of the Florida Highwaymen group of painters, artist Robert Butler was added much later, and strayed from their techniques. Most Highwaymen painters used elaborate palettes, and their paintings were strictly landscapes. Robert Butler landscape paintings for sale often contained wildlife, especially turkeys, and were created with a basic color palette. He sold his oil paintings on the road, and would often paint the landscapes along his journey. Travel the world of artists by viewing breathtaking landscape paintings for sale online.
