In the letter, Butler thanks her for the kind and interesting letter and encloses catalogs that might interest her. He also expresses his wish to meet her in person. Letter text: "Dear Mrs. Röhrich, Thank you for your kind & interesting letter. I hope you will find these catalogues of some interest & hope to meet you one day. Sincerely, Reg. Butler" The letter is written in blue ink and signed as "Reg. Butler." Butler was one of the leading figures in post-war British sculpture, known for his figurative metal sculptures and innovative approach to modernist sculpture. His works are represented in prestigious collections, including the Tate Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Provenance: Collection of Susan Schleger, New York, New York.  Mrs. Schleger and Vladimir Kagan had an enduring friendship. In the mid-late 1960s, she engaged him to decorate both her Central Park apartment and her Palm Beach penthouse. Her grandson recalls that she welcomed the designer as a houseguest in Palm Beach occasionally, something she did only for her closest friends and family. Several of the Kagan pieces offered in this auction were custom-made for the apartment, while the Schlegers’ art collection ranges from the 1960s to the 2000s.
