OHalbleinenkasette (berieben, mit Fehlstelle und teils mit Einrissen). Berlin, Hans Striem, 1923. -- Eines von 90 nummerierten Exemplaren (Gesamtausgabe: 100) auf "original hand made paper" (DV). Druckvermerk vom Künstler signiert. - Über den Künstler 1908-1993 ist auf der Homepage der Tate Gallery zu lesen: "Painter, maker of reliefs, lithographer and designer. Born 19 March 1908 in London, younger son of Sir William Rothenstein. Studied at the Chelsea Polytechnic and the Central School 1924-7. First one-man exhibition at the Matthiesen Gallery 1938. Worked for the Pilgrim Trust under the 'Recording Britain' scheme 1939-41. Decorated schools at Wribbenhall, Bewdley and Eltham. Lives at Great Bardfield, Essex, where he founded his graphic workshop 1954; won first prize in the Giles Bequest Competition for colour woodcuts and linocuts 1954 and 1956. Teaches print making at Camberwell School of Art. Art Fellow at Sheffield University 1962. Author of 'Looking at Paintings' 1947 and 'Linocuts and Woodcuts' 1962." NO RESERVE Busoni (Rafaello, illustrator) Illustrations for Wozzeck by Georg Buchner, 9 hand-coloured lithographed plates, 8 signed by the artist, this one of 5 special sets with the title illustration with a presentation inscription to Madame Harriet Lanier, Berlin, Februrary 1924, with 1p. manuscript note from the artist, all window-mounted and preserved in later cloth-back box, folio, 1924. ⁂ From an original run of 200 copies published in Munich, this a special one of 5 sets which were given from the publisher's to the artist to present to friends. The subject is Georg Buchner's incomplete play Wozzeck, completed a year before Alban Berg's eponymous opera which opened in Berlin.

Ten lithographs depicting the biblical Ten Plagues; each lithograph hand signed in pencil by the artist Rafaello Busoni. (The last work – "The Slaying of the Firstborn – is signed twice.) Illustrated title page and colophon page. Printed in a limited edition of two hundred copies. The present copy is no. 25. [12] ff. (title page, ten signed prints, and colophon page), 25.5 cm. Good condition. Stains. Notations in pencil in margins. Kept in card portfolio, slightly worn; missing original paper cover. Provenance: The Rimon Family Collection.

Bibliographisch nicht nachweisbare, teils zynisch-satirische Folge des jungen Busoni (1900-1962) während seiner ersten Berliner Jahre, bevor er über Stationen in Spanien und Schweden schließlich im Oktober 1939 mit seiner Familie nach New York emigrierte. Rafaello Busoni (German/American, New York, 1900 - 1962), "Reclining Nude," pastel on paper, c. 1940s/50s, signed lower right, measures 18 x 24 inches to the matt edge, 25.50 x 31.50 inches framed. CONDITION: Good, framing with wear. Born in Berlin, the first public exhibition of his works took place in the Zurich gallery Tanner in 1917. Busoni fled Germany after the Nazi's came to power and arrived in New York in 1939 where he continued his life as a painter and illustrator until his death in 1962.

Mit ihrer zupackenden Frische beeindruckende Skizze. Raffaello war Sohn des Komponisten Ferruccio Busoni. Er beschickte 1927 und 1928 die Akademie-Ausstellungen in Berlin, und war später vor allem als Einband- und Buchillustrator tätig.
