Burzi 1907' lower left Dimensions: 37 x 70 cm Frame: 52 x 85 cm Interesting detail of landscape in small horizontal format with waters, white swans and evening sun Condition: The varnish has darkened and there is craquelure in some places, parallel to the left edge with slight loss of color. Edges and corners show rubbed spots due to the frame and retouched spots mainly at the upper edge. Signature and date have been partly overpainted. The frame shows usual signs of age and wear as well as a few spots with loss of color primarily at the left corners. The dimensions are 37 x 70 cm and the frame measures 52 x 85 cm. Ettore Burzi (1872-1937) Ettore Burzi grew up near Bologna. In 1890, he attended the local Accademia d'Arte. In 1892, he moved to Venice and studied at the local Accademia di Belle Arti. In 1902, he moved to Lugano-Paradiso in Switzerland, followed by exhibitions in Italy, Germany and Switzerland. An old woman walks up a steep path at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Sasso, one of the main attractions in Morcote. There is only very few craquelure and insignificant rubbing in the outer edges under the framing. The inspection under UV light reveals that the signature was done on the varnish.
