The Morris inscription in Tales from Bernard Shaw reads, "To Jack in memory of old school days. September 12th 1930"; "Jack" is Vera L. Holmes who was a cross-dressing lesbian activist and actress, chauffeur to the Pankhursts during the Suffragette movement and heavily involved in Evelina Haverfield's Serbian Mission (bookplate from her library).
