          Grouping of Six (6) Southern Folk Art dolls. 1st-2nd items: Two (2) Helen Bullard Kreckniak (1902-1996, Ozone, Tennessee, working 1949-1982) carved female "Holly Dolls" including one (1) named "Barbry Allen" wearing a green gingham dress with bonnet and holding a dulcimer, signed on the back of the right leg and dated "1964," and one (1) attired in a black satin dress with lace apron, red cape, and fancy black hat, pencil signed on the back of the right leg, carrying a round basket with wool spindle. Both with the "Holly Dolls, Ozone, TN" label sewn to the inside dress hem. 9 3/4" and 10 1/2" H respectively. 3rd & 4th items: Pair of folk art dolls with walnut heads including a young male wearing overalls and a red shirt and a female with a printed cotton dress with red collar and belt. 6 3/4" and 7 3/4" H. 1st half 20th century. 5th item: Carved folk art female doll with a nut head and grey hair, depicted seated in a chair with a butter churn. 4 1/2" H. 20th century. 6th item: Large painted folk art doll having a painted head with carved and partially painted arms and legs, wearing a green gingham dress. All 20th century.

          3 Helen Bullard Kreckniak (1902-1996, Ozone, Tennessee, working 1949-1982) carved folk art heads, all three carved from a chestnut desiccated partial log. One titled "Wedge-Head " (9 1/2" H), one titled "Woman's Head" (7 3/8" H) and the third untitled but depicting a woman with a head covering, possibly Mary, mother of Christ (8 3/4" H).           Helen Bullard Folk Art Nativity Set, 11 pcs.

          Helen Bullard Kreckniak (1902-1996, Ozone, Tennessee, working 1949-1982) folk art carved Nativity Set, 11 pieces, including Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, 3 wise men, a shepherd boy, 2 sheep, and manger. Also includes donkey initialed J.H.. Set won 1st Prize at the 1955 United Federation of Doll Clubs 6th Annual Exhibition and 2nd place at the 1959 United Federation of Doll Clubs, 10th Annual Exhibition. Dolls range in size from 4 1/4" H to 12 1/4" H. Biography: Mrs. Bullard carved wooden dolls by hand under the name "Holly Dolls". She served as President of the Federation of Doll Clubs and was Founder and President of the National Institute of American Doll Artists (NIADA); she also served as editor of the magazines of both these organizations. She authored Crafts and Craftsmen of Tennessee Mountains, American Doll Artists, American Doll Artists Volume II, Faith Wick, the Artist and Her Dolls, Dorothy Heizer, the Artists and Her Dolls, My People in Wood, and the update of the Cumberland County book.
