The photograph, a carte-de-visite, half-length portrait by Brady, showing him standing with violin under his chin and looking into camera. Inscribed on the mount below the image. 3 1/4x2 inches (image), 4x2 1/4 inches overall; slight fading to signature, owner inscription on verso crediting photograph and describing occasion of signing. The letter, to R[obert?] Ogden Doremus, sending a check of $250 relating to a mortgage foreclosure [not present], and, in a postscript, giving his travel plans. 3 pages, 8vo, written on a folded sheet; moderate bleed-through overall.
