  • Jean De Brunhoff: Babar the Elephant, (4) Early American Editions
    Dec. 07, 2024

Jean De Brunhoff: Babar the Elephant, (4) Early American Editions

    Est: $75 - $100

Four volumes of Babar by Jean De Brunhoff. All American editions, Babar and his Children, The Story of Babar, The Travels of Babar, Babar the King. All bindings split with loose text blocks. Fair condition. Jean de Brunhoff was a French writer and illustrator who gained fame for creating the beloved Babar the Elephant series of children's books. Born on December 9, 1899, in Paris, France, de Brunhoff initially pursued a career in painting. However, he later turned his talents to writing and illustrating children's books, a decision that would leave an indelible mark on children's literature. Tragically, his career was cut short when he passed away on October 16, 1937, but not before he had created seven Babar books that would become timeless classics.
