Circa 1830. 10" x 6" sight, 14 1/4" x 10 1/4" OA.  Catalogue Note: Born in Charleston, South Carolina, William Henry Brown (1808-1883) was an itinerant artist, who, when not traveling, split time between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his native city in the Lowcountry. Brown is also known to have visited St. Louis, Missouri; New Orleans, Louisiana; Natchez, Mississippi; and Blue Lick Springs, Kentucky, where he offered his services as a silhouette artist to a public that was eager for personal and public profiles of all kinds.
