In a lengthy career that spanned sixty years, Brown created some of the best known movie posters, magazine illustrations and bookcovers of his generation, especially in the 1950's. Tarantula (Universal International, 1955). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style A. Horror impresario Jack Arnold directed this classic "big bug" creature feature, and the poster by Reynold Brown delivered the audiences that Universal (and the spider) were hungry for. The Style A half sheet is slightly more rare than the Style B, and this unrestored example is in admirable condition. Minor handling includes edge wear, pinholes in the corners, stains in the left and right border, creasing in the bottom section, a small tear in the bottom and top background and center crossfold. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.

Tarantula (Universal International, 1955). Three Sheet (41.5" X 80"). This flesh-crawling three sheet spotlights the towering arachnid of the 1955 thriller starring John Agar, Mara Corday, and Leo Carroll. Tarantula was released shortly after the success of another giant bug movie, Them, which featured enormous ants. Fans have held this film in high regard, mainly because of its strong opening and big finish, and particularly because of its impressive special effects. A live spider was used in filming, with air jets encouraging it which way to move over a miniature landscape. Even an uncredited Clint Eastwood shows up toward the end as a jet squadron leader attacking the giant eight-legged menace. Artist Reynold Brown captures the action superbly on the three sheet presented here, which has been restored on linen. Touchup has been applied to pinholes in the corners and borders, and some light overall wrinkling can be noted. Very Fine on Linen.

Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (Allied Artists, 1958). Insert (14" X 36"). Although the film was definitely drive-in material and only over time has it become a cult classic, the real star was the poster itself, with artwork by the incredible Reynold Brown. Allison Hayes towers over the highways, destroying everything in her path. This singular image has become an iconic graphic of the science fiction genre and is in constant demand in any format. This insert has been restored on linen to address pinholes in the borders, one pinhole in "Hudson," a bottom left corner chip, and a small chip in the top left corner. The borders have been airbrushed and there is a slight separation of the linen and the paper in top border. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.

House on Haunted Hill (Allied Artists, 1959). Poster (40" X 60"). Vincent Price is absolutely priceless as a creepy owner of a spooky mansion in this spine-tingling 1950s fright fest. $10,000 is on the line for one of the five strangers challenged to survive just a single night in the eerie manse. Directed by William Castle and made on a tight budget - as were most of Castle's films - it was hugely successful. Artist Reynold Brown outdid himself in creating the perfect imagery for the film's posters, including this marvelous large format piece which is superior in many collector's minds as it is a richer, deeper image. There is a date stamp in the bottom border, edge wear, pinholes and creases in the borders, two tears in the top border with archival tape, tear in the bottom border that extends into the credits with paper tape on the verso (minor touchup), and tape stains along the top border on the verso that do not affect the image. Rolled, Fine+.

This horror thrill ride from William Castle features five brave souls vying for $10,000 if they can survive a night in the same house as Vincent Price, with all his ghouls, ghosts, and terrors. Reynold Brown's great border art is an added bonus to this fantastic lobby card set. The title card has pinholes in the corners. The scene cards have pinholes in the borders and a few in the artwork, one card has grease pencil marks on the verso that don't affect the image, and all cards have a rubber stamp on the verso that does not bleed through to the front. Overall, nice looking lobbies with bright color! Fine/Very Fine.
