Born in Dublin in 1932, Christy Brown overcame cerebral palsy to become a renowned writer and painter who created all his works with his left foot, the only part of his body not paralyzed. Although doctors told his mother that he would never live with his condition, she was determined to encourage him, and Christy Brown's artwork is a direct result of her teachings.
