      Antanas 'Tony' Brazdys (Lithuanian, b. 1939), Study for Seducer, welded steel, black finished, 52cm high, 77cm long Provenance: Exhibited at Arnolfini, Bristol, 1966. Peter Barker-Mill purchased it for ú300. From the estate of Peter Barker-Mill Brazdys at the age of eight fled with his family to England to escape the Russian occupation of Lithuania, later moving to the USA. He studied firstly, 1962-64, at the Art Institute of Chicago and then at the Royal College of Art in London. He then taught at the Royal College and at the Gloucester College of Art. In 1965 he had his first solo exhibition, at the Hamilton Galleries, London, and his work was featured in the influential Arts Council of Great Britain touring exhibition of sculptors from the Royal College æTowards Art IIÆ. His awards include the Sainsbury Award for Sculpture in 1963 and the first prize in the Sunday Times Sculpture Competition in 1968. His public sculptures include 'Ritual', 1969, Basinghall Street, London, EC2, and four pieces for Harlow New Town, including 'Echo', 1970; 'Solo Flight', 1982; and 'High Flying', 1982 Please note: This lot may be subject to Droit de Suite
