      Merwin & Bray Front Loading Pocket Revolver with Original Box

      Manufactured circa 1862-1868. This revolver is chambered for the 30 caliber cup primed front loading cartridge. The top of the barrel rib is marked "MERWIN & BRAY FIRE ARMS CO. N.Y.", with patent dates marked around the five round cylinder. The matching serial number is marked on the butt, rear face of the cylinder, stamped on the inside of the right grip panel and on the bottom barrel flat. Silver plated brass frame, with blue remaining parts, blade front and frame notch rear sights, spur trigger and fitted with smooth varnished two-piece walnut grips. Comes with an original two-piece box with a black and yellow mottled appearance and "DIRECTIONS FOR USING" label on the inside of the lid. BBL: 3 inch octagon solid rib Stock: Gauge: 30 Finish: blue/silver Grips: rosewood Serial Number: 6122 Condition: Fine. The barrel shows 30% original blue finish, which is mostly contained in the protected areas, with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The cylinder has a smooth brown patina with scattered traces of original blue finish. The frame retains 98% original silver plating, which has darkened with age, and shows some pin prick blistering. The grips are excellent with 98% original varnish, showing some very minor lower edge wear and a couple very minor dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. The box is very fine.
