Signed and dated upper right to the back of the panel: Friderike Adelheid Braun p. an. 1825The works of Adelheid Friedericke Braun, who mainly painted still lifes, are very rare today. The Landesmuseum Mainz owns six works by the artist, and the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt owns a further piece. Two floral still lifes in a similar vein to the present work were sold by Christie's in London in 1997 (13.6.1997, lot 87 and 88).
