      MICHEL VINCENT BRANDOIN (1733 Vevey 1890) Vue de Cygnoigner à Avenches. Watercolour, gouache. The framing line in black pen. Titled and inscribed in pencil on verso. 25.6 x 37 cm. The upper right margin with minor, insignificant rubbed area and discolouration. The centre of the image with a slight curving of the paper. Overall in a very attractive condition with fresh colours. --------------- MICHEL VINCENT BRANDOIN (1733 Vevey 1890) Vue de Cygnoigner à Avenches. Aquarell, Gouache. Die Einfassungslinie mit schwarzer Feder. Verso mit Bleistift betitelt und bezeichnet. 25,6 x 37 cm. Der rechte Rand oben mit kleinerer, umbedeutender Bereibung und Verfärbung. Die Bildmitte mit leichter Wölbung des Papiers. Insgesamt in sehr schöner und farbfrischer Erhaltung.

      ATTRIBUTED TO MICHEL VINCENT BRANDOIN (VEVEY 1733-1807) Travellers and horses pulling a cart on a country road through a village watercolour 245 x 355 mm. Provenance: The Squire Gallery, London  Footnote: Born in Switzerland, Brandoin was sent to Amsterdam in 1748 to work as an apprentice in his uncle's textile firm. IN 1762, his uncle died and he moved to London, living in Church Street,  Chelsea, until he returned to Swiitzerland in 1772. In London, he took lessons from Paul Sandby and devoted himself to painting in watercolour. He took on pupils and worked on commissions for both English and Swiss patrons, as well as exhibiting at the Royal Academy and elsewhere. The present watercolour shows the influence of Sandby.
