"French Canada" 7" x 5" watercolor, signed lower left, dated 1944. Recent frame. The following biography is from the fineestateart.com website: Carolyn Bradley studied art at Herron and improbably then taught stenography at Manuel High School for a number of years. She applied for and was hired by Ohio State University in the early 1930s to teach watercolor painting and costume design. She often traveled and painted during her summer vacations. She published three books on costume design. Beginning in 1945, Carolyn Bradley taught abroad in Chile and was enlisted as a United States Goodwill Ambassador and continued teaching abroad for a few years. Back in the United States, Carolyn was visiting her sister in Indianapolis and fell ill. She was taken to the hospital and the initial diagnosis was pneumonia. She died within days from what turned out to be breast cancer. Carolyn’s painting technique often features bold, brightly colored images.
