He was a member of the Des Moines Association of Fine Artists, Chicago Gallery Association, and the Iowa Art Club (president, 1928-32). He exhibited at the Iowa Art Salon (1930s); Iowa Artist Club, Art Institute of Chicago, Whitney Museum, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He also served as director of the art department at Drake University.
