  • SIGNED HARRIETTE BOWDOIN PAINTING WOMAN FEEDING GEESE
    May. 22, 2021

SIGNED HARRIETTE BOWDOIN PAINTING WOMAN FEEDING GEESE

    Est: $50 - $100

This is a charming Early 20th century original painting by American artist Harriette Bowdoin (b. 1880). She studied painting with Sir Frank Brangwyn in France and with Henry Snell and Elliott Daingerfield in New York. Bowdoin met American post-impressionist Jane Peterson, who also was also studying with Brangwyn at the time. The two women most probably traveled to Venice together around 1908. Both of these women artists were using fabulous color and bold, spontaneous brushwork in their paintings around that time period. Bowdoin exhibited her works at the Art Institute of Chicago (1911-18), at the National Academy of Design (1913-20), at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, and at the Society of Independent Artists in 1917. She was a member of the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors, the American Watercolor Society, and the New York Society of Painters. This painting features a woman feeding geese. Signed on the lower left corner. Framed. - Board: 10 x 8". Frame: 10 7/8 x 8 3/4"
