Sculpture of a grasshopper formed from cutlery parts 1988. Metal. H. 13 cm, l. 17 cm. Sign.: Bouvier. - Provenance: Estate Countess Finck von Finckenstein-Brinkama - A painter, draughtsman and sculpturer who did his first exhibitions at the age of 24 in Caen and Vence. In 1969 he moved to Italy and focused on sculpture. During his stay in the United States in 1970 he developped the idea to design figurative and abstract sculptures made of cutlery parts. Beginning in 1986 first modest exhibitions with 'sculptures made of cutlery parts'. B. has been living and working in the Dordogne (France) since 1973.

The artist is known for his humorous figures of cutlery, which impress with their lifelike design and countenance. In this case, the artist created a standing owl made of brass and silver-pated cutlery pieces. The figure is signed and dated on the plumage ‘Bouvier 96’. The Owl is in good condition with usual traces of wear. The dimensions of the figure measures 22.8 x 12.6 x 13.8 cm. The artist is known for his humorous figures of cutlery, which impress with their lifelike design. Here is a ratite with dense plumage depicted. The bird has long legs, long tail and a characteristic long beak. The figure is signed and dated on the left leg with ‘Bouvier 96’. Under the perch of the plinth is a hallmark by Christofle. The condition is very good. The plinth shows natural patina and usual signs of use. The height measures 31.7 cm and the width 19 cm.
