      Borchers, Heinz. 1898 - Bremen - 1972. Lokomotiven. Öl/Hartfaser, u. re. sign. u. unleserl. dat. Heinz Borchers, 45 x 75 cm, ungerahmt.- Borcher studierte an der Kunstgewerbeschule Bremen Architektur, ging dann ans Bauhaus nach Weimar wo er zwischen 1919-1922 u.a. bei Johannes Itten und Lyonel Feininger studierte. Deren Anregungen finden sich in dem vorliegenden Gemälde, das auch vom Fortschrittsgedanken der Zeit kündet.

Swath. 1965’ on the reverse Dimensions: 40 x 75 cm Very good condition Provenance: From the estate of the artist Surrealist composition with trees growing from chess boards in front of a red abstract landscape background This painting is titled ‘Schwaden’ (windrows) and was created by the painter Heinz Borchers in 1965. Shown is a surrealistic composition with bare trees that seem to grow out of chess boards. The red background covers the whole image. White colored fields in the shape of waved beading like windrows cover some parts of the trees like a veil. The painting is signed and dated lower right ‘Hans Borchers. 65’ and is signed, titled and dated ‘Heinz Borchers. Schwaden. 1965’ on the reverse. It is overall in very good condition with only minor abrasions around the edges due to framing. The image measures 40 x 75 cm. The frame dimensions are 48.5 x 83 cm. Heinz Borchers (1898-1972) Heinz Borchers was born in 1898 in Bremen. He attended the local arts and crafts school and then studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar. The artists Johannes Itten and Lyonel Feininger were his teachers there. In 1932 and 1950 Borchers participated in group exhibitions in the Kunsthalle Bremen. Next to paintings influenced by New Objectivity he also created stained glass windows, among others for the Jakobi Church in Kiel and the chapel of the Riensberger cemetery in Bremen.       Oil on fibreboard Germany, 1968 Heinz Borchers (1898-1972) - German painter Signed and dated lower right 'Heinz Borchers 68' In white colored wooden frame Dimensions: 39.5 x 64 cm Good condition In its abstraction unusual composition by the German painter Heinz Borchers; paintings by the artist fetch up to more than €3,000 at international auctions The works influenced by the New Objectivity by the German artist mostly depict figurative compositions. In the present painting from 1968 an abstract composition is shown in contrast, in which a plastically modulated, red ball floats on a partly checkered ground of rectangle shapes. The coloring of the ground in soft white and gray tones and sublime modulated green underlines the plasticity of the spherical shape and gives the composition a calm, balanced mood. The painting is signed and dated lower right 'Heinz Borchers 68'. The corners are bumped and show partly small paint losses. The surface is slightly soiled, additionally there are slight framing traces. The overall condition is good. The frame is overall in good condition with signs of wear.
