No apparent signature, an oval canvas within an elaborate gilt gesso and wood frame, 52" x 45" overall, Charles V. Bond, b. 1825, Illinois/Michigan. Chs Blome Bros. Co. label on verso. Marked "C.V. Bond, Detroit 1853" on verso of canvas. Provenance: property of a Grosse Pointe Farms, MI private collector.

      BOND, CHARLES V.(Born 1825 American) Half length portrait of a young girl, framed oil on canvas in oval form, approximate image size 26 5/8'' x 21 1/2'', with frame 27 3/4'' x 22 3/4'', signed on verso and dated 1857, Milwaukee. CONDITION: Good, housed under glass, no apparent paint sticking to glass surface, small faint scratch bottom center, couple small areas of tight paint craquelure, small spot bottom left center, surface still appears quite clean from being housed under glass.
