Collyer, [Siltzer p.248; Snelgrove, Bodger 2], 1791 or later, Stilton, Hampshire, by the artist, a faint collector's inkstamp lower right, figures neatly identified in soft pencil below image, 470 x 690mm (18 1/2 x 27 1/4 in) *** Figures identified include the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York and the Duc d'Orleans.       The Prince of Wales at Newmarket Heath oil on canvas 23 x 483/4 in. (58.4 x 123.8 cm.) NOTES This picture depicting a visit by George, Prince of Wales, to watch racehorses exercising at Warren Hill, Newmarket follows a composition engraved by John Bodger (active 1770-1821) and published by J. Bodger and Mr. Weatherby, 1791. The plate is dedicated to the Prince of Wales, with the figures apparently executed by J. Collyer and various of them including the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, the Duke of Orleans, and the Duke of Bedford identified.
