    Blondel (Jacques-François) De la distribution des maisons de plaisance et de la decoration des edifices en general, 2 vol., first edition, second issue (with Rue Dauphine in imprint and without errata), text within two-line border, titles in red and black and with engraved vignette, engraved frontispiece after Cochin, dedication and 155 plates and plans, some double-page or folding, engraved head- and tail-pieces and historiated initials, some after Cochin, approbation f., without half-titles, vol.1 plates 17 and 39 with small hole or split at fold, with small loss to image in case of latter, vol.2 p.119 small hole within text, with loss of a few letters, but no loss of sense, spotting, occasional staining, lightly browned (little heavier occasionally), contemporary mottled calf, gilt spines in compartments and with later morocco labels, some gilt restored, joints starting, but holding firm, rubbed, [Fowler 49; Berlin Kat. 2400; Millard 25], 4to, Paris, Rue Dauphine, Chez Charles-Antoine Jombert, 1737-1738. ⁂ The first book by Blondel, who greatly influenced architecture in France, and indeed Europe in general. This work concerns the country house, its decoration and gardens.
