      DANIEL FRASER FALLING BLOCK RIFLE.

      Cal. .450/.400, 2 3/8". S# 1467. Bbl. 26" w/ full length file cut solid rib. Express style rear sight w/ 1 standing & 1 folding leaf. Ramped blade style front sight w/ brass bead. Original "D&L Frasier" marked scope made to match this rifle and having matching S#. Scope features single vertical crosshair w/ dual horizontal crosshairs & leather eye cup. Color casehardened action. 1018. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Rifle has action patent use #177. Action is of early style takedown type w/ drift pin. Blued bbl. Checkered walnut capped pistol grip stock w/ horn buttplate. Checkered walnut Alex Henry style forend. Action features a decorative Celtic style border & a side lever cocking system. Safety is located in front of trigger inside the trigger guard bow. Gun is stocked w/ nicely figured walnut w/ deep amber & smoky highlights. This specific rifle complete with scope is pictured on page 149 of “The British Falling Block Breech Loading Rifle from 1865” by Jonathan Kirton. CONDITION: action retains 60% original case colors w/ right side remaining vivid under the cocking lever, left side faded w/ muted patterns remaining. Bbl. retains 75% original blue w/ fading to gray overall but most noticeable where handled; as well bbl. shows scattered oxidation. Stock shows no cracks w/ crisp flat topped checkering & 90% finish remaining after older freshening. A few light scuffs or compression marks on toeline. Wood is even w/ metal. Bore remains bright & shiny w/ no traces of frosting. Optics are lightly clouded but remain serviceable. (01-15601/TB). ANTIQUE. $4,000-7,000.
