"The Last Kiss" was published circa 1867 by Fishel, Adler & Schwartz, New York. It was engraved from an image from the 1867 Paris Exhibition. The smaller image is an Art Deco color etching of a red-headed woman that is pencil signed by the artist, Marcel Bloch (French, 1882-1966). The large print has heavy foxing. Bloch's image has mat burn. Both frames have some scuffs or chips. The frames measure 36 1/2" x 26" and 24" x 20". Third-party shipping or personal pickup is required. Ce peintre, illustrateur et affichiste a réalisé une oeuvre offertes aux meilleurs clients des Établissements Raoul. Il faut noter qu'il a réalisé plusieurs affiches pour des champagnes, mais aussi la célèbre affiche pour le film King-Kong de 1942 et qui représente une de ces élégantes dans les bras du terrible gorille. Son art se rapproche de Maurice Milliere ou Louis Icart. Chaque affiche sera mise en tube, ou regroupée dans un tube avec les autres lots du même acheteur. Original poster. Lithography. Cond A, all margins before cutting. This painter, illustrator and poster artist has produced a work offered to the best clients of Établissements Raoul. It should be noted that he made several posters for champagnes, but also the famous poster for the 1942 film King-Kong. His art is similar to Maurice Milliere or Louis Icart. Each poster will be put in a tube, or grouped together in a tube with the other lots from the same buyer.

Like most other designs for the film, we're presented with a formidable ape who stomps through Manhattan with the object of his affection clenched in his fist. But here, Kong is a bit more benign than we usually see him: he gazes upon Ann Darrow almost lovingly, and there is no actual sign of destruction—and certainly, no terrifying brute who can crush an airplane in mid-flight with his free hand. Although unsigned, it is most probably the work of Marcel Bloch, who designed all the posters for Pathé film reissues in the 1930s and 1940s. Rare!! (Modern; Film; American)
