Stas Blinov (1946) ging nach seiner künstlerischen Ausbildung (1964-1969), u.a. bei M. Sar'yan und M. Trufanov, einen langen Weg zum Erfolg. "City of Kitezh" (based on a famous Russian legend). Oil /. 60 x 80 cm. Sign., Dated 96. Legend has it that Yuri II, grand prince of Vladimir, first built the city of Maly Kitesch (Klein Kitesch) on the Volga - today's Krasny Cholm. Later he found a wonderful piece of earth on the shores of Lake Svetloyar east of today's Semyonov, where he decided to found the city of Bolshoi Kitesch (Groß-Kitesch). After the Mongol prince Batu Khan had conquered part of Russia, he heard about Kitesh and ordered his army there. Maly Kitesch was quickly conquered by the Tatars and Juri was forced to retreat to Bolshoi Kitesch. A prisoner told the Tatars the secret way to Lake Svetlojar. The army chased Yuri and soon reached the city walls. To the surprise of the Tatars, the city had no fortresses or anything like that. The residents had never considered defending themselves and began to pray to God. When the Tatars saw this, they started their attack, but had to stop suddenly. Countless fountains of water suddenly began to bubble up around them. The attackers had to back away and watch the city sink into a lake. The last thing they saw was the cross on the dome of the cathedral. This legend gave rise to countless rumors. It is said that only those who are pure in heart and soul can find the way to Kitesch. It is also said that when the weather is calm, the accusing chimes and the singing of the inhabitants from Lake Svetlojar can sometimes be heard. RefOld23320 Ref20t23320
