BIOGRAPHY: August Bleser, Jr. (1898-1966) painted landscapes and other scenes, but was best known for portraying men and women in familiar situations, from the beach to the courtroom. Unlike a Norman Rockwell, he usually portrayed upper class and professional people. Bleser was also in demand for commercial art, using his realistic paintings to promote mouthwash and hand creams.
