Bisley uses paints, inks and airbrushes for his comic illustrations and is much inspired by rock album covers and graffiti as well as the work of illustrators Frank Frazetta and Bill Sienkiewicz. Bisley had his professional break in 1987, when he was hired by Pat Mills, who upon seeing the potential of Bisley's work, revived the comic strip ABC Warriors and assigned the artwork to Bisley. Then he took over the drawing of Slaine and after that Judge Dredd, Batman, and Judgement on Gotham. He sometimes does work for Heavy Metal as well.
