Landscape and wildlife artist Byron Birdsall was a master watercolorist and learned the technique of graded washes from Hokusai and Hiroshige, famous Japanese wood block printers. Byron Birdsall’s paintings are mostly landscapes depicting Alaska’s wilderness, but he also painted historic events, birds, and still life pieces. He was known for his ability to capture the natural light of the landscape and replicate it in his paintings.

Though he preferred using watercolors, artist Byron Birdsall’s portfolio also includes some oil portraits and landscapes. Byron Birdsall's limited edition prints were released multiple times annually until his death in 2016. He wanted to reach a larger audience with his works and make them affordable to people of all classes.
