      OSVALDO BIGNAMI (Italian, 1856-1936) ORIENTALIST SCENE 1897; oil on canvas; signed, dated, and inscribed Milano, l.r.; Accademia di Belle Arti Milano (1897) label, verso; 47 x 59 in. (60 x 72 in.) Exhibitions: Academy of Fine Arts Brera, Milan, Italy, 1897. Other Notes: Osvaldo Bignami moved to Milan in his twenties where he apprenticed under a decorative artist and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts Brera. His fresco portraits of famed Italian artists Masaccio and Bellini earned him the Mylius Prize from the Academy in 1893 and 1894, where he regularly participated in exhibitions until 1900.
