BIOGRAPHY: In his adult years he was tall for his times, six foot three or four, with a swimmers build, broad shoulders, slim hips, long legs, high cheekbones, white hair, black moustache, and brown eyes. He was born near London, England April 6, 1908 and lived to be 62, dying in January 1971. His family migrated to the United States around 1918. He had one sibling, Stephen, whose major work was as art editor of Holiday Magazine.Geoffrey Biggs lived most of his artistic working years in Palatine Bridge, in upstate, New York, and he took pleasure rebuilding his home from time to time. He married Anna Wagner, a model he met in New York City while he was studying there at Grand Central Art School in the 1920s. The couple had one daughter, and he occasionally used his wife and daughter as models.Biggs did illustrations, drew and painted. His illustrations appeared primarily in magazines including "Boy's Life", "Sports A Field" and the "Saturday Evening Post". An admirer of N.C. Wyeth, Biggs was known primarily for action scenes. He had a studio in a separate building in his home and also in New York City at 47th Street and Lexington Avenue. His style was primarily realistic with clear images. His originals were usually submitted to the magazines and not returned, so most of their locations are not known by family members. He was a man who lived in his head and was always most happy when working.
