          § Peter Biegel (1913-1987) Pulling Up at Goodwood signed with initials 'PB' and dated '76 to the reverse watercolour 24 x 38.5cm Provenance: J L W Bird, London, from whom acquired in 1985, Heydon Grange, Norfolk The present scene depicts Goodwood before the present stands and paddock were much altered. The jockeys are in the colours of major owners of the period, including those of Lord Astor, Colonel Hornung and the Wildensteins or possibly Sir Adrian Jarvis, though it is difficult to determine if an actual field is being depicted here. We are grateful to David Oldrey for his assistance with this catalogue entry. Examined out of frame. In good overall condition. Fly spots and minor surface dirt mostly to the mount. Framed 46 x 60cm
