Very good condition Using natural light, Harry Benson depicts famed country music artist Dolly Parton as she puts the finishing touches on her makeup. Shooting her in profile, Benson captures Parton's iconic curvaceous figure and teased blond hair. Known as "The Queen of Country Music," Parton is the most honored female country performer of all time, with forty-six Grammy nominations and eight Awards. Executed in 1976, this gelatin silver print is signed, titled, dated and numbered an artist's proof. The sheet measures 24 x 20 inches. Excellent original condition. Harry Benson (Scottish, b. 1929) Scottish born photojournalist Harry Benson's images have appeared in major magazines including LIFE, Vanity Fair, Town & Country, Time, Newsweek, and the London Sunday Times Magazine. Benson first came to the United States when he was assigned to travel with The Beatles on their inaugural American tour in 1964. Since then, Benson has photographed numerous celebrities and major moments in history; he has taken images of every President from Eisenhower to Barack Obama, Bobby Kennedy's assassination, Richard Nixon's resignation, marches with Martin Luther King, Jr., and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Benson's works have been the subject of forty solo exhibitions and fourteen books. His photographs can be found in the permanent collection of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh and the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC. Benson currently lives in Wellington, Florida.
