Influenced by the art of Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier, artist Frank Moss Bennett was famous for his attention to historical accuracy in his oil paintings. Bennett began his training in 1892 at Slade School of Art in London and finished his education at the Royal Academy of Arts. Ladas the Greek runner falling dead as he goes to receive his crown of olives at Olympia, a lithograph he created in 1899, won him a gold medal from the Royal Academy.
