        Jan. 03, 2021

Carlo Beninati (IL,born 1942) oil painting

        Est: $340 - $380

ARTIST: Carlo Beninati (Illinois, born 1942) NAME: Nude YEAR: 1988 MEDIUM: oil on canvas CONDITION: Very good. No visible inpaint under UV light. SIGHT SIZE: 24 x 18 inches / 60 x 45 cm FRAME SIZE: unframed SIGNATURE: Lower right CATEGORY: antique vintage painting SKU#: 115996 US Shipping $60 + insurance. Carlo Beninati (Illinois, born 1942) Born in Chicago, Illinois to Italian parents, Carlo Beninati was focused on being an artist from the time he was young. He chose that pursuit over a sports career, something that was also an option in both baseball and football. As a beginner, he became a commercial artist for the studio of Stephens Biondi and de Cicco. In his spare time, he did portraits and soon came to realize that if he was going to be successful, he would have to hone marketing and promotion skills as well as painting. Through contacts with business leaders placing advertisements with his company, he began doing celebrity portraits to promote their causes. HIs career took off from there. As a much sought-after portrait artist, Beninati has spent real 'quality time' with some of the world's most recognized and celebrated sports figures, including Muhammad Ali, Mario Andretti, Michael Jordan, Mike Ditka and Nolan Ryan, just to name a few. Beninati strives to "maintain global awareness of people, places and special events of significance to posterity." His famous sports portraits are considered to be extremely collectible and are also sold to benefit some of the favorite causes supported by the celebrities he paints. Among the many accolades and honors bestowed upon Beninati, he was chosen to create the official poster for the 11th annual Brickyard 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race of 2004. The race was won by NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, who races the "Drive to End Hunger" Chevrolet SS. Beninati, whose artwork is displayed in the White House as well as in Fortune 500 Companies and in the homes of celebrities all over the world, sees a parallel between the artistic process and the athletic one. "Believe it or not, it takes strength and endurance to turn one of these paintings out," he said. "It's exhausting. It reminds me of golf, target practice or the precision needed to hit a baseball. Stroking with a paintbrush, you have to hit an exact point tens of thousands of times, and you can't miss." He lives in Arlington Heights, Illinois with his wife and usually paints at night "when the world is asleep. At this time he feels a subconscious guidance, almost as if a third party were painting".
