    John T. Bauscher, Kentucky Oil Impressionist Landscape John T. Bauscher (Kentucky, 1890-1951) impressionist landscape painting on board with title on the back of "Kings Camp, Frankfort, Ky.". Some losses noted on the painting as you can see in the photos. Housed in a gold painted wooden frame with artist signature left in addition to a 1941 date. Bauscher lived in Kentucky and Indiana, worked at the Courier-Journal as an engraver, was part of the Wonderland Way Club and started the Louisville Art Academy. Painting measures 19 1/4" by 15 1/4" in frame with sight measurement being 15 3/8" by 11 3/8".

    John T. Bauscher (American, 19th-20th century), signed and dated 1930 l.r. James L. Russell (American, 1873-1937) started the Wonderland Way Art Club around 1906, which became a gathering for artists working along the Wonderland Way, an area from the Evansville, IN/Louisville, KY, to Cincinnati, OH. Working en plain air, these artists painted views of the Ohio River in a loose, Americanized Impressionist style. John Bauscher was a well known member of the club. His peers included Paul Plaschke (American, 1880-1954), Joseph Krementz (American, 1840-1928), Sidney Crosier (American, 1857-1930) and many other lesser well-known artists; 15.75 x 13.5 in.
