The young woman is shown with her head tilted slightly to the left, facing the spectator directly. Her lightly coloured, neo-classical dress corresponds beautifully with the in red chalk, finely drawn wooden landscape in the background. The painter Ida Bauman exhibited at the Académie Royale in Paris. One of her most famous portraits is of the English Royale Family. The portrait image by Ida Baumann is in very good condition. The image and the frame show only minimal traces of age and wear. It is signed lower left with “I. Bergmann”. At the back sit an inscription and an Art Nouveau label on the framing.
