    K. BAUER (1852-1924), Shepherd's path in South Tyrol, 1896, Pencil

    Est: €1,050 - €1,400

Konstantin Bauer (1852 Trostberg (Chiemsee) - 1924 Munich): Shepherd's path in the South Tyrolean mountain landscape, 1896, Pencil Technique: Pencil on Paper Inscription: Lower right signed: "Bauer". Lower right dated: "27. 8. 96. Partschins". Date: 1896 Description: After studying in Munich, Konstantin Bauer lived near Merano from 1878. At the Munich Academy, he familiarised himself with the art of etching under his teacher Johann Leonhard Raab. He later turned to drawing and watercolour painting. South Tyrol, in particular the area around Merano, was the landscape in which he found his favourite motifs. Our drawing shows a small area near Partschins near Meran. The atmospheric sheet once again evokes the pictorial content of the 19th century. The pasture as the domain of the shepherd in his connection with nature, the boulders in the foreground as an expression of loneliness. However, the style of depiction is already indebted to the realism of the turn of the century. The deserted path, the pasture fence, which no longer shields the herd, and the summer foliage of the trees are presented to the viewer in a completely naturalistic way Keywords: Italy, landscape, mountains, path, rocks, 19th century, Realism, Landscape, Italy, Size: Paper: 44,1 cm x 29,2 cm (17,4 x 11,5 in)
