      Germaine Baude-Couillaud, French (1885 - 1975), "The Village Center," oil on canvas, signed lower left, measures 10.50 x 14 inches unframed, 20 x 22 inches framed in a wide 1930s frame, plaque at front center bearing the number "72" (from an exhibition). CONDITION: Good, frame with losses. Couillaud studied at the Académie Julian and then joined Humbert's studio at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. She traveled to Spain, Greece, Egypt, and Morocco and painted many landscapes and seascapes. Her work is held in the collections of the Quai Branly Museum, Musee National de la Marine, and the Musee de Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, all located in France.
