Sally Bassett Dickeson Sold at Auction Prices

Born in Mississippi and raised on Cape Cod, Sally Bassett Dickeson is a graduate of Smith College and the University of Houston. The artist studied with, among others, Leonard Baskin and Elliot Offner at Smith and Gael Stack at the University of Houston.

While living in Texas, she was active in the Houston Art League. During her years in London, Dickeson was represented by Sloane Street Gallery. Her work is in a number of private collections.

She has traveled extensively throughout the United States, South America, Southeast Asia and North Africa. Currently, she resides on Cape Cod.

Since Dickeson’s return to the Cape, she has studied drawing with Sarah Holl, and painting with Rosalie Nadeau, Timothy Thies and Steve Allrich.

As a painter working primarily with the palette knife, she is fascinated with the interplay of light, color and form as she creates contemporary interpretations of traditional subjects. The artist believes that a painting should evoke an emotional response to create a connection between the painting and the viewer.
