        Biagio Barzotti Rome 1835-Rome 1908 Small mosaic plaque depicting St. Peter's Square and the Vatican Basilica within a gilded wooden frame with ornamental tablet reliefs. Biagio Barzotti was a mosaicist for Pope Leo XIII and had his studio in via del Babuino 57. His extremely detailed works are found in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. This plaque, unsigned, comes from the Artist's heirs, descendants on the maternal side as per documents made available, including family photos in which the artist is portrayed and the descendants portrayed in the house with the plaque in the background 12.5x20 cm - in frame 32x39 cm

Beigegeben ein Gutachtenvon Roberto Grieco, das Mikromosaik der Werkstatt des Biagio Barzotti zuschreibend. Hochfeine Darstellung des Petersplatzes mit seinen Kolonnaden, dem Obelisken und den flankierenden Brunnen vor dem Petersdom mit polychrom gestalteter Figurenstaffage. In vermutlich sekundäre Messingumrandung eingelassen. Literatur: Vgl. Roberto Grieco, Micromosaici romani, Rom 2008.
