    [ART] Howard Baer (1906-1986) American artist born in a little mining town below Pittsburgh in 1907. He received his art education at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh. Journeying to New York in 1929, he has lived there continuously excepting during those periods devoted to traveling in Southern France and Mexico. In 1929, he moved to New York City where he worked for ten years as Cartoonist and Illustrator for The New Yorker, Esquire and Colliers, turning to painting in 1941. Exhibitions of his work were staged at venues both in Europe and America including the Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C., the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York, and both the Gallery Herene and the Exposition Des Independents in Paris. Offered here is an 1953 [plate signed] original lithograph from IMPROVISATIONS. Noted artists drew directly on the lithographic plates. Each was used as an ad for various businesses. The proceeds went to Artists Equity. Sheet size is approx. 12 x 8 in. VG.
