A photographic album dedicated to the trip of the Russian imperial family to relatives in Hesse in 1863., 14 photographs (10.5x6 cm) by the Darmstadt photographer Franz Backofen (1806-1881). In a calico cover with embossed album. Metal clasp, gold trimmings. Portrait photographs: 1) The Grand Duchess of Hesse Elizabeth, born Princess of Prussia (1815-1885) - the grandmother of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. 2) Prince Ludwig of Hesse (1837-1892; since 1877 - the Grand Duke of Hesse) with his wife Alice, born a British princess (1843-1878) - the parents of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fedorovna and Empress Alexandra Fedorovna.
