  • Baade, Knud Andreassen: Mondschein über der norwegischen Küste
    May. 30, 2024

Baade, Knud Andreassen: Mondschein über der norwegischen Küste

    Est: €3,000 - €4,000

Mondschein über der norwegischen Küste. Öl auf Leinwand. 86 x 117,5 cm. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalogue.

  • Knud Andreassen Baade (Norwegian, 1808-1879)
    Jun. 20, 2002

    Knud Andreassen Baade (Norwegian, 1808-1879)

    Est: $22,500 - $30,000

A Norwegian fjord by moonlight signed and dated 'K Baade 1855' (lower left) oil on canvas 623/4 x 52 in. (159.5 x 132 cm.) Painted in 1855 NOTES Knud Andreassen Baade met Johan Christian Dahl in Sogn in 1839, a meeting which was to have a profound effect on the younger painter's career. Having dedicated himself to figure painting under Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg at the Copenhagen Academy and then to portraiture at Christiania, Baade followed Dahl to Dresden and became one of several young Norwegian artists to benefit from Dahl's informal teachings. It was at this period that he turned his attention to landscape painting, and he later settled in Munich where he further developed his style under the influence of Southern German Romanticism.
