Anonym erschienen. - Burt, Dictionary of Erotic Artists, 17. - Ohne Titelblatt und ohne den Buchstaben "K". - Joseph Apoux (1846-1910) war Schüler von Jean-Léon Gérôme und spezialisiert auf Aquatinta- und Kaltnadelradierungen, stellte ab 1880 aus und nahm 1886 an der "Exposition Internationale du Blanc et Noir" teil. Seine Werke waren sehr gefragt. - Alle Blätter im Rand braunfleckig, Blatt "A" stark gebräunt und teils sporfleckig, Blätter "B" bis "G" teils stärker braunfleckig im unteren weißen Rand, teils mit kleineren Randeinrissen. - Provenienz: Aus der Sammlung von Hans-Jürgen Döpp, Frankfurt.

Representing a mythologic scene of harvest with a child-satyr and a woman.Signed on plate on lower left margin. Title in capital letters and in the lower margin at the center. Printed by A. Bizolier, as the inscription reports on the lower right margin. Joseph Apoux (Le Blanc, 1846 - Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, 1910) French painter and illustrator studied painting and drawing with Jean-Léon Gérôme and specialized in etchings. He has exhibited since 1880 and participated in the International Black and White Exhibition (1886). He is famous for having been the author of numerous caricatures and erotic and macabre prints.

Fresh impression, a wide gradient of tones, full margins print demonstrating a great talent.     Copertina incisa + 12 acqueforti e puntesecche sciolte (mm 205x175; fogli: mm 335x265 cadauno). Brossura editoriale. La tiratura non dichiarata fu di 125 esemplari stampati su simil-Japon. Joseph Apoux , artista francese, pittore ed incisore, operante soprattutto negli anni tra '800 e '900, è particolarmente rinomato per le sue incisioni di nudi femminili osé a chiaro sfondo sessuale, che rivelano una certa discendenza da Félicien Rops, l'incisore di culto che aveva aperto la strada a quel genere trasgressivo presso i letterati decadenti. L' "alfabeto" pornografico di Apoux, la sua opera più nota ai tempi, fu posta a censura dal clero e dai bempensanti perché ritenuta oscena. Apoux ha partecipato alla Exposition Internationale de Blanc et Noir nel 1886. Le sue opere, apprezzatissime da una certa cerchia di intenditori dell'arte che lo giudicarono modernamente peccaminoso e raffinatissimo, sono state conservate segretamente dai collezionisti e hanno raggiunto notorietà presso il largo pubblico solo intorno agli anni '60 con la rivoluzione sessuale.
